NAHREP Atlanta had another incredible meeting for the month of May. We had a panel wich included Tracey Powell from The Atlanta Development Authority and Leslie Kane from The Nehemia Program. The topic was "Affordable Housing, Down Payment assistance and Foreclosure Prevention".
Tracey presented different types of grants and assistance provide to homebuyers by the Atlanta Development Authority. It was incedible to know that there are several programs still available to help hombuyers with over fifty percent gift of down payments. Alysia has been working with PEMCO, Ltd. as the Listing Broker Manager since the company's arrival in Georgia. In addition to the most recent Georgia contract, PEMCO currently serves as the Marketing and Management Contractor for HUD in California, Hawaii, Guam and the Marianas Islands. Alysia hopes to utilize her background in public relations to help initiate marketing campaigns to promote public awareness and increase home ownership of Georgia's HUD properties. She currently serves as the point of contact for HUD's listing and selling agents across the state, managing and promoting education and enhancement of the HUD selling process |

We had another great event. It was good to see many new faces as well as familiar ones networking before the meeting. Josefina Knapp with O'Kelley and Sorohan was the speaker for the meeting. She talked about "Short sales and Foreclosures". We had a packed house and had the opportunity at the end of the meeting for Q&A's which addressed the concerns of many individuals.
Josefina received her undergraduate degree in 1993 from The Ohio State University and her JD from Capital University in 1996. She has been a closing attorney for 8 years. Since 2001 she has been with the law firm of O'Kelley & Sorohan LLC, concentrating her practice in residential real estate and became a Member of the firm in 2006. A native Spanish speaker, Josefina has been actively involved in helping the Hispanic population achieve the American dream of homeownership by building a large Hispanic practice for the firm's Gwinnett county location. She currently manages the Alpharetta office for the firm. Among other organizations, Josefina is involved in the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), the Georgia Real Estate Fraud Prevention and Awareness Coalition (GREFPAC) and the Georgia Real Estate Closing Attorney's Association (GRECAA).
